Geospace Technologies, a manufacturer of high-tech equipment for the oil and gas industry, faced a significant challenge: the impending loss of invaluable institutional knowledge due to an aging workforce. Critical information, project histories, engineering insights, and data analyses were siloed in email accounts, presentations, and disparate file shares (including G Drive and on-premise file shares), some belonging to employees who had already left the company.
This "tribal knowledge" was difficult to access, making it time-consuming for current employees, especially younger engineers, to find answers to internal questions. Without a formal, centralized knowledge base, hours were wasted searching through the company’s vast data stores, which totaled in the petabytes. Allganize stepped in to change that.
Geospace Technologies identified Allganize as a potential partner to address their knowledge management challenges. Allganize proposed leveraging its enterprise search capabilities, powered by an LLM, to ingest Geospace's vast historical data, including old emails, presentations, engineering drawings, and documents from various sources. The goal was to create a system where employees could ask natural language questions and receive accurate, context-aware answers based on the company's internal information.
Allganize ingested petabytes of Geospace’s historical data, emails, presentations, engineering documents, from both on-premise and cloud file shares. Using LLM-powered enterprise search, Geospace employees could now ask natural language questions and receive accurate, contextual answers. The system effectively became a virtual assistant for internal knowledge.
To ease adoption, Allganize began with a SaaS-based Proof of Concept using a 10GB dataset, providing Geospace with an immediate preview of value. Following a successful POC and security review, the solution was transitioned to a full on-premise deployment, keeping sensitive data within Geospace infrastructure.
Allganize integrated with systems like Oracle / JD Edwards using secure APIs. Access controls were configured to align with Geospace's policies, ensuring IP and export-sensitive data were protected at all times.
